Martha's Here!

We had another busy, yet fun, weekend. Friday night my company hosted a family gathering at the Dayton Dragon's baseball game. Johan was a little tired at first but warmed up after some cotton candy and the third inning. By the end of the game he was into it! Luckily it was a good game and the Dragon's won!

We had another KidSave gathering Saturday - this time at a Colombian festival at a park in Columbus. The kids were asked to lead the gathering in the singing of the Colombian National Anthem. Johan already knew most of the words and stood proud with the other kids singing their song. He had a blast all day long.

Prior to the festival the kids met as a group with the social worker. They were asked what they liked best about their trip so far. Johan responded: baseball, camp and mini golf. I swear I don't think there has been anything he hasn't liked!

This week is our turn to host Martha, the kid's chaperone. She traveled home with us on Saturday after the festival. Johan was so excited - he talked the entire way home. I think he relived every moment of every day up to that point with her. We were all exhausted by the time we got home. But when we got home he kicked into an even higher gear because he was so excited to show Martha his house, room and toys!

Sunday was spent relaxing around the house. We played frisbee in the yard and Martha taught us a new card game which we played for hours. It was a nice day.

Yesterday it was back to camp for Johan and work for Tom and I while Martha explored our town on foot. Last night we went bowling after dinner. Johan loved it. Three games and he didn't want to stop. I think he was just getting into the groove of it towards the end. He'll get another opportunity later this week when camp goes bowling.

For those of you reading this based in Troy there will be an article on Johan and Kidsave in this coming Sunday's Troy Daily Newspaper. Hopefully it will raise more awareness and find all of the kids forever homes. They are truly a great bunch of kids.
