Any doubts I had about Johan's feelings about summer camp vanished Friday afternoon. It was a busy work week for me so I didn't have an opportunity to drop him off or pick him up until Friday afternoon. The kids were in the game room when I arrived. Johan was gathered with a group playing a board game on the floor. When I entered he bounced up and grabbed his backpack with a half a dozen kids yelling 'goodbye, Johan'. He sprung out the door chattering a mile a minute telling me about his roller skating adventure. He obviously greatly enjoyed learning to skate. All the way home he practiced his English. He kept repeating "Hello, My Name is Johan" to me and to every object in the car. It was pretty funny.
Saturday we went to Columbus for a KidSave gathering at a farm. Everyone had the opportunity to ride a horse, but Johan wasn't interested. They had some crafts, so he painted a flower pot then started a pick-up soccer game with a few of the other kids. They finished the afternoon with a game of volleyball.
We went to church Sunday morning. Through the translator a few weeks ago we determined that Johan doesn't attend church very often but was baptised and confirmed in the Catholic church. We attend the Episcopal church and the service is very similar to the Catholic so he was able to follow along fairly easily.
Sunday afternoon was spent catching up around the house. Johan assembled his last lego kit that a friend from my work had given him.
Have a great day,
Carrie
